Hello Sunshine!
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you a card that I made just to brighten up someone’s day. In this card, the sunflowers stand as a symbol of brightness and positivity. It's a little gesture meant to bring warmth and light into the recipient’s day. Sometimes, it's the simplest things that can make a difference, reminding you that there's beauty in the small moments and if we take time to look, in each other as well. I hope you enjoy.
To create this card I collected my supplies including hammermill white cardstock, my splat box, and Distress Oxide Mica Stains in the colors called Specimen, Harvest Moon, Fallen Acorn, and Unravelled. Be forewarned, the Mica Stains will do exactly as the name applies so be careful where it is applied. I started the design process by placing my paper into the splat box and carefully applying each of the color stains to specific areas of the paper. I kept the Super Sunflower plate, featured left, at hand so I could judge where I wanted each color. Once that was done, I utilized some spray fixative and allowed for the paper to dry overnight.
For the next step, I positioned the Super Sunflower plate over the areas I had pre-planned to cut, secured it in place, and then ran it through my die-cutting machine. I next cut out the background for behind the sunflower image in a light sky blue cardstock. I adhered the two pieces together using liquid glue and allowed it to dry. Once that was done I measured, cut, and folded a cream-colored card base to which I adhered the background composite with double-sided tape.
The last step was to create the sentiment. For this I decided to go with Simon Says Stamps Painted Hello die and some nice dark black cardstock which really sets off the design well. With that, I called the card complete.
