Falling for Wednesday Hop
Fall Critters
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I am presenting to you my week 5 themed card for the Falling for Wednesday IG Hop. This week’s theme is Fall Critters and as the leaves begin to turn colors with warm hues and the crisp autumn air settles in, we find inspiration in the unexpected corners of nature. In my Fall Critters journey, the changing of the seasons has met the world of raccoons, as seen tucked away in a back alley under the cover of night. I hope you enjoy how these adorable critters have turned ordinary trash cans into cozy hideaways.
This card, while intricate, was fun to make. You might be thinking to yourself, exactly what so intricate about it? Well, this die set from Globleland, first of all, came with zero instructions and the packing didn’t even have a product number. Secondly, some of the dies cut out very small pieces that didn’t resemble anything. So after some reverse image search using Google Lens, I found an example and figured out the layout of the pieces. After that, it was all crafting so since Crafting is Happiness! it sort of redeemed itself.
So once I had determined where all the pieces went and what color they needed to be I cut all of the pieces out for the racoons and assembled them. I went with the very standard common grey and black coloring of the North American raccoon. With the pieces all cut out, I assembled them with some liquid glue and then added some white for the pupils of the eyes. I next used the trash can die and the wooden fence die, along with Distress Oxide in Weathered Wood, to create the rest of the foreground pieces that can be made from the die set. Lastly, I used the stone stamp from the My Favorite Things On Solid Ground (SY-50) and Distress Oxide in the color Pumice Stone for the surface of my alleyway.
For the background panel, I used a combination of Distress Oxide inks in Uncharted Mariner, Prize Ribbon, and Seedless Preserves to create my night sky. I then assembled all my foreground pieces and adhered them to the newly created background panel. To finish off the design, I utilized Concord & 9th’s Perfectly Penned letter stamp set and white heat embossing powder to create the sentiment.
The last stage was assembly. I trimmed the panel down to its final dimensions and then utilized double-sided tape to adhere it to a kraft-colored A2 card base.
