Sharing Fall Hop
Pumpkin Spice Delight
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I am sharing with you my entry into this week’s Sharing Fall Challenge! This challenge is being hosted by @thatcraftygolden and you can find their page on Instagram, and is running from September 18th - October 19th. This week's theme revolves around Pumpkin Spice, arguably one of the greatest inventions of mankind and a staple of the fall season because of its warm and comforting flavor profile, which includes cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. These spices evoke a sense of coziness and nostalgia, making them a perfect fit for autumn. Actually, come to think of it I am going to go have some now.
If this theme sparks your creativity, join us in the fun! Don't forget to use the hashtag #sharingfallcards, as we can't wait to admire your creations. I hope you enjoy my submission to this challenge.
The design idea for this card was to create it in the style of a vintage advertisement. So I looked through my paper packs and after some online perusing, I decided upon this polka-dotted paper as my background panel. I next trimmed it to its final dimension using an A2 rectangular cover die and then adhered it to a pre-cut and folded A2-sized white card base with double-sided tape.
With that completed I moved on to the main focal element, my coffee/tea cup. Actually, let’s be honest with each other here, it’s not one or the other, it’s both, you are drinking both during the fall and we all know it so don’t try and fool any of us. For this step, I sized out which cup size would work the best, and then using my Hero Arts Tea Cups die, featured left, and some cream-colored cardstock that matched the polka-dot paper cut out the cup.
Once I had the cup in hand I used the Gina K Everything Nice stamp set, featured right, along with some Amalgam ink, to stamp on the pumpkins which are necessary to enforce the theme as otherwise there is nothing that pulls it together. I next used PrismaColor colored pencils to color and shade the image. Once that was completed I used Distress Oxide in the color Pumice Stone to give a little vintaged age to the cup. The last step for the cup was to adhere it to the background with some liquid glue.
The next phase was to add the sentiment. For this, I once again used the Amalgam ink and the Everything Nice stamp set which I stamped on the same cream-colored cardstock as the cup. Next, I used the Altnew Rounded Corner Rectangle die set to cut out the tag. I then adhered it to the background panel.
The last step was to add a few flat-backed Cantelop Pearl embellishments from Kat Scrapiness and call it done.
