An Altenew Card
Inspired by Terri Wilson
Good day, fellow crafters. Today I present to you a card I recently completed following a class I attended with other Altenew Educators and was inspired by a lesson given by Terri Wilson. I hope you enjoy.
To create this card I first began with the Altenew Gems embossing folder, featured left, and some gray cardstock. I trimmed the cardstock to fit the 6x6 folder and then lightly misted the back to soften the fibers of the cardstock. I prefer to do this with my embossing, especially with the 3D folders, so that I get nice crisp image transfers and no tearouts. I next put the cardstock into the folder and ran it through my Gemini die-cutting machine a couple of times to be sure of my transfer. Then it was set aside to dry.
The next step was to create the floral focal image. For this step I used the Pink Fresh Studios Be Strong set featured right, which came with a stencil. Using Distress Oxide inks in the colors of Bundled Sage and Dried Marigold along with my ink-blending brushes I colored in the stencil until I got the hues I was looking to achieve. I next utilized the Altenew Organic Lenin 3D embossing folder, featured above, misted the back of the stenciled cardstock, and then ran the folder through my Gemini a couple of times. I next utilized the coordinating die set, featured right, to cut the flowers out.
The next step was to craft the sentiment. For this card, I opted for the Fancy Thanks die from Altenew, featured below left. I chose to use this one because I feel the font is very elegant especially when using black cardstock the way I did here.
The last stage was assembly. I trimmed the background panel down to its final dimension as well as a coordinating orange mat for visual interest. I then adhered them together with double-sided tape and then repeated that step to adhere the composite to a white card base. Next, using Bearly Arts liquid glue, I adhered all of the remaining components to the card.
